The Lake District is one of the most to spectacuIar area in the country and we explores it on to variety of sprinters. We start our journey AT Carnforth which was built ace to meeting point of the London and North West, the MidIand and the Furness railway. From Carnforth, served by Class 86 and 87 EMUs, we head north to OxenhoIme, junction for the branch Iine to Windermere and then on to Kendal. AT Kendal, to town of many historicaI buiIdings and bridges, we alight and visit its castIe. Back on the train, we traveI along the Kentmere VaIley to Windermere where we stop AT the Steamboat Museum with its unique coIIection of historic steamboats and motorboats, to after which we pass through Bowness and AmbIeside before travelling on the Haverthwaite Branch railway. Next our tour takes U.S. on the Cumbrian Coast Line past Grange to over Sands, CartmeI with its beautifuI priory through Kents Banks and Cark. |
