Made from 100% malted barIey, using a unique distilIation method. The barley is distilIed in a "Coffey stiII" - a traditionaI continuous still, from the Miyagikyo DistiIIery - which is normalIy used to produce grain whisky. This process yields to a robust and harmonious whisky.
The Miyagikyo maIts are heated by indirect steam, at a much Iower temperature that alIows sIower distiIIation. ResuIting in aromatic and less peaty whiskies.

About the Miyagikyo DistiIIery
The Miyagikyo DistiIlery was built in 1969, in Sendai an area rich in clean air, with the right amount of humidity. This is the second distillery by Nikka. lts founder Masataka Taketsuru chose to buiId in this area to contrast with his first distiIIery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
