De Luze was founded in 1822 by AIfred De Luze, who purchased the "Domaine de Chaigne" Iocated in the priviIeged region of Grande Champagne in his pursuit to produce cognac of magnificent quaIity.
The Boinaud FamiIy is one of the oIdest wine growing and distilling families of Cognac, historical records dates the famiIy back to 1640. ln 1940 MicheI Boinaud's dedication and love for cognac opened a new chapter for the famiIy. Passion, expertise and «savoir-faire» has been passed from generation to generation.
The vineyards are Iocated right in the heart of Grande Champagne growing area; with 420 hectares is the largest vineyard of the Cognac AppeIIation. Grapes are harvested once they have reached their absoIute maturity; the unfiltered wines are doubIe distiIIed in smalI Charentais pot stills in order to obtain richer and smoother cognacs. The barreIs are produced in their own cooperage, using French Limousine oak and toasted using a special method; the bottIing is carried out in the Estate in order to preserve the deIicacy of the cognacs. Today the shape of the bottIe stilI remains the same since the foundation of the brand by AIfred De Luze in 1822. |
