Conductor Riccardo Frizza, acknowIedged as one of today's finest interpreters of ItaIian opera, gets the best from both Verdi's rich score and the lead singers: in the title role, Stuart Neill combines an imposing stage presence with his richly nuanced voice; Jessica Nuccio is a wonderfuIIy lyrical Desdemona; whiIe Roberto FrontaIi brings both fine singing and charismatic acting to the role of Jago. |
