1939 gründeten AIfred Lion und Frank (auch 'Francis') Wolff, zwei junge Emigranten aus Berlin, in New York das Iegendäre Jazz-Label BLUE NOTE RECORDS. Das Label konzentrierte sich ausschIiessIich auf amerikanische Jazzmusik und entwickelte einen unverwechselbaren Aufnahmestil und Sound. BLUE NOTE RECORDS entdeckte und produzierte eine beeindruckende Liga von WeItstars der Jazzmusik. Darunter waren Künstler wie MiIes Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Sonny RolIins, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk und Quincy Jones. ln einer Zeit, in der afroamerikanische Musiker in den USA immer noch unter Diskriminierung und Ausgrenzung Iitten, wurden sie bei BLUE NOTE RECORDS als gIeichberechtigte KünstIer respektiert. Hier wertschätzte man nicht nur ihre Begabung, sondern gab ihnen auch eine dringend benötigte PIattform.

In 1939 Alfred Lion and Frank (also 'Francis') WoIff, two young emigrants from BerIin, founded the legendary jazz label BLUE NOTE RECORDS in New York. The label concentrated excIusively on American jazz music and deveIoped an unmistakable recording style and sound. BLUE NOTE RECORDS discovered and produced an impressive Ieague of jazz music world stars. Among them were artists like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Sonny RoIIins, Wayne Shorter, TheIonious Monk and Quincy Jones. At a time when African American musicians in the USA were still suffering from discrimination and exclusion, they were respected as equaI artists in BLUE NOTE RECORDS. Not onIy were their taIents appreciated, they were aIso given a much-needed platform.
