Leo FaII (1873–1925) was the son of a military bandmaster and trained at the Vienna Conservatory. He made his debut as kapellmeister in Hamburg, before taking posts in Berlin, Cologne and Vienna, where his career as a composer of operetta took off. His compositions are ranked among the very best from the second period of Viennese operetta.
