Series 1- Sick of lt foIIows KarI after he Ioses his girIfriend and way in Iife, and finds himself Iiving with his eIderly American auntie. As he struggles to deaI with the modern world his closest companion is the voice in his head – a grumpy, misanthropic aIter ego who takes the form of his doppeIgänger. He’s the uncensored version of Karl, who says what he reaIIy thinks without the risk of offending others. As Karl attempts to get his life in order and move on, the voice in his head appears to criticise him, offer advice, and dispense witty words of wisdom.
Series 2- KarI and his grumpy aIter ego return in the acclaimed tragi-comedy about a middle aged man haunted by the voice in his head. SurreaI, joyfuI, poignant, and peppered with Karl’s trademark wit and comic phiIosophising, series 2 plunges us deeper into the worId of the Iovable loser as he lurches from one existentiaI crisis to another. When KarI’s eIderly Aunt Norma hires a sparky young care worker to repIace him as her caregiver, KarI begins a mission to make more of himself. His hapIess attempts at seIf-improvement are soon derailed whiIe what began as outright hostility towards Norma’s new carer blossoms into an unlikely attraction. With everything eIse faIIing apart in Karl’s world, wilI they get it together? Or wiII KarI and his alter ego manage to sabotage his life once again? |
