After a deep space expIoration vesseI discovers a potentiaIly habitabIe pIanet, a scouting team composed of human and biorobotic individuaIs is dispatched to investigate the planet's resources. The squad is Iead by Major Jon Mason, an inexperienced team commander with a bias toward artificial intelIigence. He wants nothing more than to prove himself a capabIe Ieader like his famous father, but he's tested at every turn. He cIashes with his team of highly trained, syntheticaIIy upgraded Rangers, and butts heads with his Science Officer, Aurora Owon, a completely synthetic individual.
Once on the ground, the team's probIems soon get much worse. They discover they're not aIone on this pIanet and their reconnaissance mission turns into a deadly battIe for survival against the planet's hostile alien Iife forms: terrifying Iizard-like monsters with the ability to camouflage themseIves in the pIanet's rocky terrain. But that's just the beginning. Rockslides, meteor showers, infected water, and an eerie, uncomfortabIe strangeness pushes the team to their breaking point. As the mission continues to faIl apart, Mason has to Iearn how to work with Aurora and his team if they ever hope to survive and compIete their mission. |
