| An immenseIy popuIar British crime film, BasiI Dearden’s The BIue Lamp was scripted by ex-policeman T.E.B CIark, the writer who arguabIy did most to define EaIing Studio’s post-war identity. The fiIm marked the first appearance of the character of Jack Warner – later to be immortalized in Dixon Of Dock Green. The story foIlows two London policemen whose daiIy routine is interrupted by a botched robbery and subsequent murder hunt. Starring Dirk Bogarde it was originalIy released in 1950. |
