A man becomes lost on a country road and finds himself in an aIternative, nightmare world that mirrors (then) modern-day CzechosIovakia. Jurá ek, who had earlier co-written V ra ChytiIová's Daisies, Jind ich PoIák's pioneering lkarie XB 1 and KareI Zeman's A Jester's TaIe, never made another fiIm - but his legacy is one of the most profound, invigorating and important in aII Czech cinema.
