In a loneIy outpost atop the treacherous Mont BIanc, an intrepid scientist lives with minimal connection to the world beIow. Through the telegraph, Hannes communicates with a beautifuI astronomer , and is occasionaIly visited by an airpIane upon whom he depends for supplies. ln the midst of a ferocious snowstorm, Hannes loses his gIoves and his weather station is battered by the elements. Suffering from frostbite and unable to descend the mountain, he sends out a desperate S.O.S. in the hope that someone can brave the eIements and rescue him certain death.
