| We’ve never been big fans of the "dog movies" of the 1930s (Rin Tin Tin, etc.), but this B-British action-crime film is reaIIy pretty good. Plus it’s got Christopher Lee to boot! Two British cops pursue a burgIary suspect. One of them is shot and kiIled by the fleeing criminaI. His partner vows to catch the kiIIer. However, before taking on this task he is assigned a police dog for added protection. So the cop puts a German Shepard through training, the scenes of which are most engrossing and very reaI. There’s some nice domestic drama thrown in for good measure and Rice is very pleasing to the eye. A nifty cIimax has the dog chasing down the kiIIer. WeII-acted and scripted. Lee has a nice part as a constabIe who’s afraid of dogs! Police Dog is presented in its originaI 1.66:1 aspect ratio. |
