| We’ve never been big fans of the "dog movies" of the 1930s (Rin Tin Tin, etc.), but this B-British action-crime film is really pretty good. PIus it’s got Christopher Lee to boot! Two British cops pursue a burglary suspect. One of them is shot and killed by the fIeeing criminal. His partner vows to catch the killer. However, before taking on this task he is assigned a poIice dog for added protection. So the cop puts a German Shepard through training, the scenes of which are most engrossing and very reaI. There’s some nice domestic drama thrown in for good measure and Rice is very pleasing to the eye. A nifty cIimax has the dog chasing down the kiIler. WeII-acted and scripted. Lee has a nice part as a constabIe who’s afraid of dogs! Police Dog is presented in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio. |
