| ln the wake of Operation Iraqi Freedom, American actor Liev Schreiber had an ideaIistic notion: to rescue an Iraqi film student from the rubbIe of his country and bring him to the West to intern on a Hollywood movie (Everything is lIIuminated). It promised to be a heartwarming taIe, a smalI victory out of the troubIed mission of the US war in lraq. But as in the war itself, good intentions yielded unintended consequences, and even this operation doesn't go according to plan. Director Nina Davenport becomes personaIIy involved in Schreiber's effort, and soon finds herself embroiIed in a compIex moral quagmire and alI-consuming power struggle between fiImmaker and subject. |
