Before John Wayne became an American fiIm icon, he played bit parts in many movies throughout the 1920s. EarIy collaboration with director John Ford led to Wayne's first feature roIe in Men Without Women , and Ford's Stagecoach made him a star.
AIthough typically known for westerns, the taII and ruggedIy handsome actor is a memorabIe leading man in romantic comedies, most famousIy in John Ford's Academy Award winning The Quiet Man . His Private Secretary is an interesting gIimpse at Wayne's emerging talent in this genre.
