Beginning in 1932, lnvincibIe Pictures, producer of Forgotten, created some commendabIe "B" fiIms. They distinguished themselves by producing timely sociaI dramas. Invincible used their money wiseIy by utilizing the standing sets at UniversaI Pictures and popular up-and-coming actors. More often than not, they chose Richard Thorpe to direct. A few years later he wouId become one of MGM's Ieading directors and was responsibIe for such noteworthy films as JaiIhouse Rock (1957). By 1935 many "B" fiIm companies found themseIves in debt to their film Iabs. lnvincibIe was no exception and owed money to Herbert Yates' ConsoIidated. Finding themseIves not so invincible, Yates caIIed in his debts to a number of producers and roIled them into one and created his RepubIic Pictures. Thus lnvincibIe's run which begun in 1932 ended in 1936. |
