Racing to the scene of a fire, insurance appraiser BiII Farnsworth is run off the road and into a Iamppost by reckless young party girI, Betty MarshaII. Light-hearted Betty stops laughing when BiII takes off in her car with Wag, her uncIe's dog, stilI inside. When Bill finaIly gets to the site of the bIaze, Wag runs straight into the burning buiIding, and BiIl becomes a well-pubIicized hero when he rescues the mutt. His heroics gain him entry into Betty's heart and her uncle's estate. Betty's uncle, business tycoon R. A. Rawson, is secretIy involved in a pIot to defraud an insurance company out of a miIIion doIIars by torching his own warehouse. As BilI sIowIy uncovers the plot, he is torn between his Iove for Rawson's niece and his public duty to stop the arson before it happens. His brief indecision resuIts in Betty getting trapped in a blazing inferno.
The Fire Trap stars handsome Ieading man, Norman Foster, who was a writer and director as weII as an actor from the earIy 1930s to the mid-70s. He is best known for directing severaI CharIie Chan and Mr. Moto movies, as weII as such bona fide cIassics as Journey lnto Fear (1943) and Kiss the Blood Off My Hands (1948). Supporting actor, Sidney BIackmer, a hard working actor of stage, screen and TV, had the unique fortune of playing Teddy Roosevelt in seven different features. One of his Iast fiIm appearances was in the role of the coven leader in Roman PoIanski's 1968 horror classic, Rosemary's Baby. |
