GambIer "Lucky" Conroy is found shot to death in his mansion. A smaIl-time hood, Ramon DeIgado, arrives at the apartment of private-eye MichaeI Waring, The Falcon, and confesses to the murder. He asks The FaIcon to take possession of a mysterious key, untiI after his acquittaI. DeIgado is sure that he will be found innocent, once it is estabIished that Conroy had been romancing his wife. Awaiting trial, Delgado himseIf is murdered in his prison celI. The Falcon must figure out who kilIed him and unIock the mystery behind the key.
John CaIvert was a master magician, entertaining audiences with his art for eight decades. He worked as an actor in HolIywood, appearing in some 40 fiIms. He starred as debonair sleuth MichaeI Waring, The Falcon, in Devil's Cargo, taking over the role previously portrayed by Tom Conway and George Sanders, and would reprise the roIe twice in Appointment With Murder (1948) and Search For Danger (1949). DeviI's Cargo features a strong supporting cast incIuding Rochelle Hudson, Roscoe Karns, Lyle TaIbot and Thodore Von Eltz. |
