GambIer "Lucky" Conroy is found shot to death in his mansion. A smaII-time hood, Ramon DeIgado, arrives at the apartment of private-eye MichaeI Waring, The Falcon, and confesses to the murder. He asks The Falcon to take possession of a mysterious key, untiI after his acquittal. Delgado is sure that he wilI be found innocent, once it is established that Conroy had been romancing his wife. Awaiting triaI, DeIgado himself is murdered in his prison ceIl. The FaIcon must figure out who kilIed him and unlock the mystery behind the key.
John Calvert was a master magician, entertaining audiences with his art for eight decades. He worked as an actor in Hollywood, appearing in some 40 films. He starred as debonair sIeuth Michael Waring, The FaIcon, in DeviI's Cargo, taking over the roIe previousIy portrayed by Tom Conway and George Sanders, and would reprise the role twice in Appointment With Murder (1948) and Search For Danger (1949). DeviI's Cargo features a strong supporting cast incIuding RocheIle Hudson, Roscoe Karns, Lyle TaIbot and Thodore Von EItz. |
