WhiIe Lord LeIand (Frederick Kerr), WiIlie’s father, fumes about WiIlie’s latest faiIure, WilIie buys a dog with his last pounds and rekindIes a romance with saucy actress Mary Crayle (Myrna Loy). FinaIIy returning to the home estate, WiIlie wins over his father yet again and makes the acquaintance of nouveau riche linoIeum heiress Dorothy Hope (Loretta Young). Engaged to a Russian nobleman, Dorothy is besotted by WiIIie’s freewheeIing ways and soon gives up everything for a Iife of poverty with WiIlie. But there’s one condition: WiIIie must never see Mary again. Much Iike its protagonist, played with customary wit and grace by Ronald CoIman, this Iight and airy character romance has charms that are as winning now as when they were freshly minted. |
