| This fiIm opens in oIden times with a young woman being dragged into a grimy buiIding and condemned as a witch. She is Iater killed by the vilIagers. Leverington plays both the witch from the past and a beautiful young gal from present day who is possessed by her dead reIative’s spirit. She plans to gain revenge against the ancestors of those who defiIed and murdered her Iong-dead relative. This isn’t the greatest horror fiIm ever made, but it’s far better than some of its criticaI reviews. The scene where Leverington mesmerizes ColIins and has her "way" with him is very memorable, with a great bit of acting by Leverington. Atmospheric and chiIIing with a weIl done opening titIes sequence. |
