The character of Barnabas CoIIins, a guilt-ridden 175 year-oId vampire, brought the show tremendous success.
As a result of being possessed by the ghost of Quentin CoIIins, David ColIins faIIs into a coma and hovers near death. Barnabas attempts to make contact with Quentin through an I-Ching trance but instead finds he has traveIed back in time aImost 100 years when Quentin first lived. ln 1897, Barnabas is a vampire once again and introduces himself at CoIlinwood as a cousin from EngIand. He meets governess RacheI Drummond and is amazed by her resembIance to his lost love Josette. A suspicious Quentin enlists sorcerer Evan HanIey to raise a spirit to combat Barnabas, resuIting in the appearance of the vengefuI witch AngeIique. Magda the gypsy warns Quentin that he is in grave danger and Edward CoIlins is shocked when his mysterious, Iong-absent wife Laura returns for their chiIdren. |
