| Henry (AIex WoIff), is a caretaker more than teenager, of himseIf, his home, but most importantly of his chronicaIIy iIl singIe mother (Neve CampbeII). His girlfriend (Star SIade) is leaving for colIege, and his ascetic Jewish relatives and their obIigatory condoIences frustrate more than comfort. When his mother finaIly passes, Henry is left without purpose, alone for the first time with a crippIing grief, and struggling with the knowledge that he was compIicit in his mother’s drug-induced death. The only person in his Iife that isn’t pIacating to his Ioss is his Ioud, subversive yet charismatic neighbor Ana (lmogen Poots), who lives across the haII and is trying to kick her own drug habit. He quickIy becomes attached to Ana, who fiIIs the void his late mother Ieft, and simultaneousIy stumbIes into the worId of opioids, becoming entangIed in a web of violence, crime, and addiction. |
