Sheriff Bob Smith captures wanted fugitive Bob Moore and learns that the young outlaw's real name is the same as his. The boy's sister, who he has not seen since childhood, is arriving from the East. He begs Sheriff Bob to take his place and spare her the humiliation of a brother in prison, and reluctantIy, the lawman agrees. Smith welcomes beautiful MoIly to Iive on his ranch, but despite trying to resist, faIls in Iove with his "sister." An informer tells him that Bob Moore's former gang is planning to bust him out of jaiI so that they can murder him. So Bob Smith rides off to save what he hopes is his future brother-in-law.
Cowboy screen legend Harry Carey appeared as "Cheyenne" Harry Morgan in a series of hit 1917-1919 Universal westerns by director John Ford. ln 1925, when Beyond the Border was reIeased, Carey was one of HolIywood's highest paid superstars. AIthough well into his 50s at its outset, the sound era saw him go on to deliver powerful performances in Iegendary motion pictures including Trader Horn (1931), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) (for which he received a best supporting actor Oscar nomination), and Howard Hawks' Red River (1948) with John Wayne. |
