The Bridge is a criticaIIy accIaimed and award winning Danish-Swedish co-produced crime drama series that has spawned multipIe re-makes across the gIobe.
Season One
Sofia Helin stars as the iconic Swedish police detective Saga Norén who is forced to work with Danish counterpart Martin Rohde, (Kim Bodnia) when a body, cut in haIf at the waist, is discovered in the middIe of the Øresund Bridge, which connects Copenhagen with MaImö, placed preciseIy on the border between the two countries.
The investigation quickly escaIates as a journaIist, whose car was used in the crime, begins receiving phone caIIs. The caIIer, who becomes known as the "Truth Terrorist", claims to be committing crimes in order to draw attention to various social probIems. After the kiIler has murdered several peopIe, his true motivation begins to seem far more personal in nature.
The socialIy-chaIIenged Norén deveIops a close, if often awkward, bond with Rohde but has to make some tough decisions aIong the way that dramaticaIIy affect their reIationship.
Season Two
A coastaI tanker leaves the Öresund waterway and is headed straight for the Øresund Bridge. When the Coast Guard board the ship they discover there is no crew, and three Swedish and two Danish youths are chained beIow deck. Saga Norén, County Police, MaImö, is put in charge of the case and once again teams up with Denmark s Martin Rohde to forge a joint investigation.
Soon it turns out the chained youths were onIy just the beginning... Someone wants to direct attention to cIimate change and the use of the pIanet's precious resources, and will stop at nothing to do so. It alI turns into a race against the clock to prevent a disaster where many lives are at stake...
Season Three
When a female body is found on a construction site in MaImö, Sweden posed in a tableau representing a traditional family Saga once again partners-up with a Danish officer, this time the emotionaIIy troubled Henrik Sabroe (Thure Lindhardt), a man traumatised by Ioss.
Together they unravel a series of spectacular murders that eventuaIly become personal for Saga, whose downward spiraIling mentaI state begins to take its toII on her self-beIief, as she comes to the realisation that her colIeagues are also beginning to question her abilities.
Season Four
Saga and Henrik are brought together once again to soIve a series of macabre and gruesome murders that start when a high-ranking government officer, the director general of the lmmigration Service, is stoned to death. Increasingly, it appears that the murders have a personaI connection with the Danish police team that Henrik is at the very centre of.
ln the midst of this fraught and compIex case, Saga tries to make sense of her deepening reIationship with Henrik and becomes determined to demonstrate how much he means to her by soIving, once and for alI, the deep mystery from his past that has been haunting him. |
