This work applies the concept of equilibrium to the dynamics of personality. It asserts that every person strives to achieve a state of emotional and mental equilibrium, a state of inner calm. Unresolved internal conflicts often create chaotic internal states instead. States of Equilibrium provides a unique theory of personality, involving the strictly internal relationship between states of mind and emotion within the individual. The reader will learn that their personality exists as a variable collection of states, and beliefs about these states, rather than as one inflexible solid state.
