| Everyone has a version of themselves they would like to express. Some people go searching for their truth while others put on a mask. Even though it's scary to walk in a state of vulnerability, we give others the permission to see what gifts and talents hide underneath all their noise. Rather than explore our childlike imaginations, we tend to settle for what society expects from us. The road less travelled becomes a laughable concept. We prefer to protect our real self and not allow others to see our perspectives. It's just easier to keep some truths underneath the rug. We get caught up with adult demands, the expectations of people, and we lose our courage to go higher in life. Now you see me begins at a stage in my childhood where I'm unsure of what the future holds. It goes into the depths of my anger problems that I had with my Father. The anxious thoughts I projected about what I would become in adulthood. I honestly didn't see myself being successful after high school. The feeling of loneliness I battled even though I had an extrovert personality. All those transitions of moving from state to state without having a feeling of being settled in one place. This is all before I even discovered poetry. You will see a boy dealing with internal issues. The same issues had me in a state of confusion almost every single day. When I started new projects, I would have trouble finishing what I started. I dealt with a lot of doubt, fear, and lack of confidence in myself. I had moments where it appeared that all hell was breaking loose around me. The idea of hope seemed like it was galaxies away. In the midst of my internal struggles, what I didn't see was those same unanswered questions guiding me toward a place of clarity. My hope is that you'll open up your eyes to discover the reason for your existence. I want everyone to recognize the current trials and tribulations only exist for you to discover your sense of purpose. Right now it may seem you aren't making any progress. It may seem that it's to late to get started. But remember, you have an audience waiting for you to show up each day. Now you see me goal is mustering up the courage to break down those walls you built growing up. There are many hidden talents inside of us. The challenge we face is taking the time to see our greatness for ourselves. Will the road be hard? Yes. Will you be misunderstood? Yes. However, the reward for following your bliss supersedes all those battles. There are people in this universe who need your message. The stories I share are just a snapshot of what I have faced during my upbringing. They are gritty. They are real. They might even make you feel sorry for me. Despite what you may feel, I want you to be the same character that is wondering in your head. Once we take off the mask, we start becoming the version we've always wanted to see. |
