Hunting and fishing is a way of life in South Carolina. This is especially true in the low country. This part of our state is a sportsman's paradise. I know that for a fact since this area is my home. I've spent countless hours in the woods waiting on a buck and just as many on the coast searching for redfish. This time represents a large chunk of my life. It seems like my inspiration for this book would have come from the solitude of nature. I'm sure it has for many other writers. However, this one was born on the Dawhoo River with the help of one perfectly timed conversation. It was a lively talk to say the least. Happy Outdoors captures that fun conversation and plenty of outdoor tales. Clifford Jardine Ray III (Dean) grew up in Denmark, South Carolina. He was blessed from day one to live on the family farm. The farm offered him unlimited hunting opportunities and free time in the outdoors. Dean graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology. He now lives in Beech Island, South Carolina with his wife, Lisa, and their two boys. When the boys aren't playing sports, you can often find the family swimming on the Edisto River. |
