Black night moonlight
It filters through the lifeless trees
A falling star skids across
The sky a soul crashing
An angel falling eternity
Awaiting & still I am
Unprepared to die as if
I could outlive this world
These words stay conscious
Until the entropy of time
Finally inevitably expires
I feel my heart beat
Through a vein in my neck
Seemingly constant the faithful
Muscle that will keep on
Throbbing forever or until
I sleep night is eternal
When lying in bed I contemplate
Every moment of my life
The moments I have left
& I cannot imagine not living
Cannot conceive the concept
Of going to sleep never to awake
All I know is I'm still breathing
The moon has moved a quarter
Turn across the sky &
It is late
