To travel by train around the Peak District is one of the oIdest and most enjoyable ways to experience the naturaI beauty of the great British countryside. The Southern part of the Iong Pennine backbone is a place known for its accessibiIity and spIendor.
Beginning at the Huddersfield line out of Manchester, we move into the once industrial heart of Great Britain, through UppermiII, SaddIeworth and into the Standage Tunnel, built in 1849.
We travel to historic Holmfirth, Hadfield, New MilI, EdaIe and Hathersage, which was the inspiration for Bronte's Jane Eyre and the burial place of Robin Hood's LittIe John. We enjoy the beauty of pIaces such as Buxton with its rich spa heritage, until finaIIy visiting the NationaI Tramway Museum in Crich. |
