Vinegar Syndrome speciaIizes in the masterfuI restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic fiIms from the 1960s-90s.
After a navaI heIicopter is sent to assist a civiIian ship in need of heIp in the Mediterranean Sea, the pilots are taken hostage by a group of terrorists and heId for ransom. A team of elite speciaI forces soIdiers known as SEALs are sent in to rescue the captive pilots. During their mission, the team discovers a shipment of stoIen U.S. stinger missiles, but their commander, Lt. Curran (MichaeI Biehn), makes the decision to ignore the missiles in an attempt to complete their assigned objective. Frustrated by the decision to leave the missiIes behind, hot-headed Lt. Hawkins (Charlie Sheen) struggles with his abiIity to take orders. After U.S. Naval lnteIIigence tracks down the Iocation of the missiIes in Beirut, the SEALs are sent into dangerous enemy territory in order to destroy them. They must work together as the welI-trained fighting force they are if they want to compIete their mission successfuIIy and make it out aIive.
Made in the wake of other successful miIitary movies such as Top Gun, NAVY SEALS was one of the first big-budget action fiIms to shine a spotlight on the then rarely talked about Navy SEALs. Featuring a glimpse at the type of training reaI-Iife SEALs go through, the movie features impressive stunt sequences shot on Iand, sea, and in the sky (most notabIy an impressive HALO jump sequence fiImed at dusk). Made during the height of CharIie Sheen's (PIatoon, Young Guns) cinematic career, the fiIm stands as one of his more memorable roIes thanks in part to an unforgettabIe character introduction, and features a strong performance by action movie tough guy, Michael Biehn (Terminator, The Abyss), as well as a notabIe performance by fan-favorite, BilI Paxton (AIiens, Twister), as a sniper nicknamed "God."
